To promote cultural exchange and enhance students' English speaking abilities in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, we organized two English Corners in November.
Session 1
The first event, themed “Bridging Cultures: A Journey Through Language,” took place on the evening of November 16th, attracting around 30 enthusiastic students who enjoyed a night of fun with their peers and teachers. We were also honored to have two special guests, Mr. Linley and Ms. Mullan, participate in the event, adding to the excitement and engagement of the evening.
The event kicked off at 7 PM, with our charming hosts, Ella and Mills, warmly welcoming everyone and setting the tone for an engaging evening. The English Corner was divided into three exciting parts. The first segment featured a cosplay performance by some of our talented friends, showcasing their favorite cultural characters and adding an extra dose of excitement to the event. Special thanks go to Mr. Max for his brave and entertaining choice of female attire!

Next up was a series of thrilling English games, including the Word Count Challenge, Whisper Down the Lane, and some amusing riddles. These activities not only tested the students’ knowledge of English but also highlighted their creativity and teamwork skills.
Exciting moments during the games segment.
During the games, participants were randomly divided into three groups, and we were fortunate to have our esteemed guests, Mr. Linley and Ms. Mullan, drawing theme words and riddles for everyone. They revealed the answers at the end of each game, especially during the riddle guessing round, where participants had to think quickly based on hints from our guests. The atmosphere reached its peak as everyone actively engaged in the competition, and we celebrated the smartest team as the winners, with all participants receiving their well-deserved prizes!

As the evening came to a close, it was time for the final party—Gift Exchange. Each participant who signed up for the English Corner was asked to bring a small gift. Through a fun drawing, everyone randomly received a surprise gift from another participant. The night ended with laughter and joy, leaving everyone with delightful memories shared with friends and teachers.

Session 2
The second session of the English Corner was held on Wednesday afternoon, November 27th, in the student lounge at UWEC. We were very honored to invite Mr. Zach MacDonald as our host for this event, bringing his enthusiasm and expertise to our students.
This activity revolves around “ International Culture”! Mr. Zach MacDonald led the session with a warm and friendly approach that instantly put everyone at ease. He encouraged students to dive into their unique experiences related to the theme, inviting them to share their views on the world and the cultural differences they’ve encountered. To keep the energy high and boost participation, Mr. Zach MacDonald sprinkled in a variety of fun games throughout the event. This ensured that every student had a chance to speak up, helping them gradually shake off any nerves about using English and improving their fluency in the process. During the discussion segment, students teamed up in small groups of 2-3, creating a relaxed atmosphere where they could freely share their thoughts.

The event also introduced fascinating cultural elements from different countries, including customs and history. This not only broadened students' understanding of global cultures but also helped them discover common ground while appreciating the differences. Ultimately, the goal was to expand their horizons and foster an awareness of cross-cultural communication, empowering them to engage in English conversations.
Hope everyone enjoyed this lively exchange and came away with new insights and connections!
At last, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the friends who helped organize the English Corner. We also want to thank our teachers for their encouragement and participation, which contributed greatly to the success of the activities. Hope our English Corner brought joy and valuable experiences to everyone involved.
We look forward to seeing you at our future activities!
