As the seasons change and new chapters unfold, the Chinese Spring Festival is approaching. The entire faculty and staff of the International Education Institute wish you a happy Spring Festival! This year, students from more than 15 countries came to Hainan to pursue their studies. From feeling lost to becoming familiar with every classroom on campus, you've grown to love medical studies even more. For senior students, you've progressed from studying basic medical courses to clinical practice. You've trained diligently in the clinical skills center and participated in the first International Student Skills Competition, achieving excellent results. Every simulated case discussion, every physiology lab session, and every hospital ward round with your teaching doctors carries your dreams and commitments to your future medical careers. This year, through various cultural exchange activities, both Chinese and international students have gained a deeper understanding of China's national conditions and traditional culture. You've actively participated in various cultural events, such as the Second International Cultural Festival, international students learning Qiong Opera, and Chinese-foreign students' rural immersion activities, sharing cultural characteristics with friends from around the world while learning Chinese language and customs. Through traditional folk experiences like making dumplings, cutting window paper-cuts, and writing Spring Festival couplets, you've felt the warmth and joy of Chinese festivals. While visiting historical museums and scenic spots, you've experienced the profound depth and long history of Chinese civilization. In various "Understanding China" and Chinese classics recitation competitions, you've achieved outstanding results, winning more than 20 provincial-level and above awards. This year, through the themed practical activity "Experiencing China - Exploring the Free Trade Port," you've witnessed the tremendous changes in Hainan's Free Trade Port. You visited the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, experiencing China's major initiatives in medical reform, opening-up, and scientific research. During your internships at three affiliated hospitals, you witnessed the busy yet orderly work scenes of medical staff, experiencing the professional spirit of Chinese medical practitioners' benevolence and dedication to saving lives. From advanced medical equipment to innovative diagnostic techniques and quality healthcare service concepts, the many highlights of China's medical industry have left you in admiration. These firsthand experiences have not only broadened your international perspective but also laid a solid foundation for your future development in the global medical field.2025, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, will welcome the Year of the Yi Si (Snake). This year carries not only deep traditional cultural heritage but also rich symbolic meanings and folk beliefs. Speaking of snakes, one thinks of the "Rod of Asclepius" - the classic symbol of medicine. Additionally, the World Health Organization's emblem features a snake as its main symbolic element, representing the importance of medicine and public health. In China, the "Compendium of Materia Medica" detailed the effectiveness of snake-based medicines in treating various human diseases, and modern medicine has also proven the medicinal value of many snake "products." The snake is viewed as a symbol of wisdom. In ancient Chinese legends, snakes could consume poison without harm, possessing the ability to distinguish truth from falsehood. The snake's quick and flexible movements are considered symbols of alertness and agility."Chu xi shi wen bao zhu pin, bu xian luo gu nao hong chen" (On New Year's Eve, firecrackers sound frequently, while gongs and drums enliven the mortal world). Chinese Spring Festival is a beautiful moment for family reunion, summarizing achievements, and looking forward to the future. Spring Festival embodies the meaning of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new. People drive away the bad luck of the old year and welcome the auspiciousness and good fortune of the new year through activities like posting Spring Festival couplets, setting off firecrackers, and paying New Year visits."Ming nian ying qing she, bai shi yi ban yi" (Next year welcomes the green snake, all things shall be half and half). 2025 contains both opportunities and challenges. We need to seize opportunities while preparing for challenges, maintaining a positive and optimistic attitude, and working hard. "Nu li jin jin xi, shao nian you ke kua" (Striving until tonight, the youth are still praiseworthy). In the new year, I hope you'll continue to maintain your love and dedication to medicine, throwing yourselves into clinical medical studies with even greater enthusiasm, continuously improving your professional qualities, accumulating more clinical experience, enhancing clinical thinking and operational skills, taking the building of a human health community with a shared future as your mission, and laying a solid foundation for becoming excellent clinical doctors. Meanwhile, we look forward to you playing a greater role in cultural exchange, becoming ambassadors of Chinese-foreign cultural exchange, bringing Chinese excellent culture to the world while introducing advanced concepts and cultures from around the world to China, promoting mutual understanding and integration of different cultures.Dear students, in the new year, may you forge ahead on your medical journey, continuously break through yourselves, and achieve even more outstanding results; may you shine brightly on the stage of cultural exchange, gaining more friendships and joy. May each of your days in China be filled with laughter and surprises, and may your study abroad experience be as beautiful as a poem, leaving unforgettable memories!"Long teng yun hai ci jiu sui, she wu shan chuan ying xin chun" (Dragons soar through sea clouds bidding farewell to the old year, snakes dance among mountains welcoming new spring). We sincerely wish you a happy Spring Festival! May you progress in your studies, stay healthy, and may all your wishes come true! The Party Secretary of the School of International Education, Zhang Wanke, and the Deputy Dean of the School of International Education , Yan Shijiao.
