随着我国经济体制的改革和发展以及全球化的影响,特别是新时期医疗卫生改革的不断深入,社会保障(医疗保障)事业面临着巨大的机遇和挑战,对从事社会保障(医疗保障)的从业人员的素质和能力提出的要求也日益提高,要求他们及在校学生必须提升自己的专业知识,学习国外先进的管理技术和现代管理理念,掌握娴熟的专业英语沟通技能对培养造就具有科学管理技能和国际眼光的应用型人才至关重要。
本课程内容大致上可以涵盖现代经济管理的主要领域,在教学中让学生熟悉的词汇域包括以下几个方面:微观经济学(microeconomics)、宏观经济学(Macroeconomics)、组织行为学(Organizational Behavior)、财务管理(Financial Management)、货币银行学(Money and Banking)、管理学(Management)、市场营销学(Marketing)、战略管理(Strategic Management)、国际商务(International Business)等。本课程注重理论与实践相联系,注重对学生听、说、读、写、译能力的培养和强化,注重专业英语的应用能力与技巧。特别注意将“用英语深化专业知识”与“通过专业学英语”两者有机结合起来,在认真总结公共管理专业及外语学习的教学规律的基础上,将外语学习与专业课学习充分整合,使学生的英语水平和专业知识在学习过程中得到同步提高和深化。
课程性质、目的和任务
本课程安排的主导思想是适应经济管理专业学位的要求,体现学以致用的教学目的,特别注意将“用英语深化专业知识”与“通过专业学英语”两者有机结合起来。通过阅读、讲解、翻译英语有关专业文章,帮助学生熟悉相关学科的专业术语和概念,提高学生阅读、理解英语专业文献的能力;重点把握专业词汇,掌握英译汉的技巧,使学员能够准确、流畅地阅读、翻译经济管理学科英语文献,掌握专业论文摘要的英文写作技能和基本的口语交流能力。
本课程是医药营销专业学生的专业限选课程之一。
二、课程教学和教改基本要求
在教学过程中,对“掌握”的内容要重点讲解,使学生全面掌握,并且能够运用有关理论指导实践;要求“熟悉”的内容,自学与辅导相结合;“理解”的内容以自学为主。
课程结束时,学员应能掌握经济管理专业英语的词汇,提高阅读能力,写作能力和一定的听说能力;学员应能在提高专业英语水平的同时,掌握经济管理方面知识。

五、课程考核
1. Each group submit a report to me at the end of the course. The report is based on some phenomenon in your daily life, you are asked to analyze the phenomenon observed using the 7 principles we have learned. The topic of each report is free to choose. I will grade each report, and the grade of the paper contributes to 40% of your final grade of this course.
2. Debate performance contributes to 15% of your final grade.
3. Portfolio homework contributes to 30% of your final grade.
